A Hempstead man died Tuesday after he was shot while behind the wheel of his car and then crashed into the bleachers of Hempstead Middle School.
Police say Jonathan Wade was shot on Albermarle Avenue at around 6 p.m. Wade managed to drive a couple of blocks away to Henry Street where he rammed through a fence at the school yard.
Police say Wade's car hit three kids who were sitting on the bleachers. They were treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. Wade was pronounced dead at 8:02 p.m. at an area hospital.
Hempstead police say Wade was arrested in connection to a shooting that happened on Albermarle Avenue on Monday.
