A Dix Hills family mourned the loss of a 3-year-old fire victim at a funeral Wednesday.
Robert and Annette Weiss, along with their three sons, were joined by dozens of members of the family's temple at their daughter's funeral service in Dix Hills. Police say the girl, Ariella, was killed in a fire started by an unattended candle in her bedroom Monday.
Friends say the family, especially Robert, is trying its best to move forward.
"Right now he is worried about his three kids and his wife, and that is more important right now, to try and be strong [for them]," friend Alan Frishberg said.
Rabbi Yakov Saacks said the congregation of Chai Center, the Weiss' temple, is doing whatever it can to help the family. Tuesday, Saacks said temple members rented the family a house because they lost their home and belongings in the fire.
The Star of David Funeral Home donated the service for free. However, the Beth Moses Cemetery tripled their charge due to the Fourth of July holiday. The Chai Center is seeking donations to cover the costs.
