District: William Floyd HS student had handgun at school

A William Floyd High School student was discovered to be in possession of a handgun Friday, according to the district.
A message on the district's website says that the student was brought to an administrator's office for possible vaping.
The student was searched with a metal detector and was found to have a handgun.
The weapon was confiscated and the police were called.
In addition to possible criminal charges, the district says the student will be subjected to "severe consequence according to the school district code of conduct."
