Police are searching for a gunman who killed a 23-year-old man in Baldwin.
Police say they received a call for about a car accident around 2 p.m. Monday but when they arrived, they found Rafael DeLossantos on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors are shaken up after the victim's body was found on the sidewalk in the middle of the day.
"It's very scary," one person said. "Makes me feel very unsafe."
Investigators say the attack appears to be targeted and not a random incident.
They say it's not clear why DeLossantos, who lived around five blocks away from where he was found, was killed.
No arrests have been made and some people say they won't feel safe until the suspect is found.
"I certainly hope they catch the person who did this," one resident said. "You don't just shoot somebody and leave them in the street like a dog."
Police are not saying if the victim was shot where he was found or someplace else.
Neighbors tell News 12 that they did not hear any gunfire.
