Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi and candidate Laura Gillen declared victory over their Republican opponents in New York's 3rd and 4th congressional districts.
Gillen, the former Town of Hempstead supervisor, claimed the win over current Republican Rep. Anthony D'Esposito in the 4th Congressional District. The race was a rematch of the 2022 race, which D'Esposito narrowly won.
"In this campaign, we built a winning coalition that reflects the diversity of this district and the whole nation," Gillen said. "This coalition resonated with a simple message: enough of the chaos, enough of the corruption – let’s work together, Democrats and Republicans, to address the pressing issues we face. As the representative for this district, I will work every day to reach across the aisle, cut through the noise, and bridge our divides."
Suozzi also claimed victory over Republican challenger Mike LiPetri. Suozzi won the seat for Congressional District 3 less than a year ago during a special election following former Rep. George Santos' removal from office.
