The defense got their chance to question Dr. Richard Edward Green at about 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Rex Heuermann's attorney, Michael Brown, was pushing Dr. Green about whether DNA technology is widely accepted in the scientific community and in the criminal court community. That is when Judge Timothy Mazzei interjected, saying whether it is accepted or not is his decision to make.

This hearing is all about whether nuclear DNA on hairs found on Heuermann’s alleged victims can be used in a criminal courtroom.

According to the defense, the company testing it was only used in one other criminal case in Idaho.

The hearing will continue on Thursday.
