The death of a nursing student from Long Island has been declared a homicide, according to the Binghamton Police Department Detective Division.
Binghamton police did a welfare check Friday afternoon where they discovered Haley Anderson, 22, of Westbury, deceased. Authorities determined she was a registered student at Binghamton University.
Detectives say a known person-of-interest in the case is a male nursing student enrolled at the university.
According to a police release, the victim and male student had a previous domestic/romantic relationship. The investigation determined that the person-of-interest had left the United States by an international air travel flight, prior to the discovery of Anderson’s body.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the case to contact Binghamton Police Detective Division at 607-772-7080 or 607-772-7082.
