Nine people are facing charges in connection with a major gun trafficking ring – including a man already accused in the slaying of a father of six on Father's Day.
Suffolk District Attorney Tim Sini says Yazmine White, 25, of Mastic Beach, was the mastermind behind the alleged operation.
“We have evidence that she facilitated 45 illegal gun sales and was physically present at 22 of those sales,” says Sini.
Prosecutors say they used wiretaps and undercover buys to build their case, which also led to the arrest of White's father, Timothy White Sr., and her brother, Timothy White Jr.
As a part of the investigation, prosecutors say they also charged Timothy White Jr. with the Father's Day killing of James Skinner in North Bellport.
When News 12 asked White Jr. if he was the shooter, he replied, “No.”
Prosecutors disagree, saying the murder and gun trafficking charges are solid.
“Several of these defendants have gang ties and two are confirmed Blood gang members – namely Timothy White Sr. and Timothy White Jr,” says Sini.
Sini says some of the weapons seized in the operation were used in crimes on Long Island. He said that six were determined to be the same weapons that were reported stolen during burglaries and grand larcenies.
The nine people arrested on the gun charges face up to 25 years in prison, if found guilty. Timothy White Jr. faces 25 years to life if found guilty on the murder charge.
