Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced Tuesday that 85% of adult residents in the county have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the New York State Health Department, it is the highest adult vaccination rate of all 62 counties in the state.
The county has the third-highest adult vaccination rate in the United States among counties with a population greater than 1,000,000.
Curran said in a statement, "Nassau County has led the way in vaccinations since day one, and we’re committed to protecting our progress and building on it. The vaccine is saving lives every day. If you haven’t rolled up your sleeve yet, now is the time."
The county also continues to overperform state and national vaccination rates across demographic groups such as seniors, youth, Black and Hispanic residents.
