Curran: 500K Nassau residents have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says 500,000 residents have received their first COVID-19 shot as of Wednesday.
Curran says the milestone equates to approximately half of the county's adult population.
The county executive says Nassau has the highest percentage of residents with at least one dose of the vaccine among New York counties with a population greater than 500,000. Their numbers say that percentage is 36.7%.
VACCINE INFORMATION: Check to see if you are eligible
"The county has been leading the state in vaccinations and we will continue to move full speed ahead to get our residents protected against this deadly virus," says Curran. "Thank you to the award-winning Department of Health and the fantastic Medical Reserve Corp. volunteers who have been doing an extraordinary job at swiftly vaccinating our population."
Nassau currently has four vaccination sites run by the county, including one that recently opened at the Nassau Coliseum.
