Work to overhaul two stations on the Long Island Rail Road is moving forward, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The governor says work has already begun at the Hicksville station. The $121 million project will add a new waiting room, new platforms with enclosed, heated waiting areas, upgraded elevators and escalators and amenities like Wi-Fi and USB charging stations. The project is expected to be completed in 22 months.
Meanwhile, a $65 million project to construct a new platform and tracks at Jamaica Station has been awarded. The new platform is expected to open in 2019.
Cuomo says the work will provide "better, faster and more reliable" service to passengers.
