A large portion of a north shore Nassau County home collapsed when a massive fire ripped through it early this morning.

The Syosset Fire Department responded to 433 Cold Spring Rd. in Laurel Hollow around 2 a.m.

County fire officials said three adults were home when the fire started, but all of them were able to get out to safety.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal's office said the fire started on the outside of the home and quickly spread into the attic and through the roof.

Syosset fire officials said no firefighters were inside the home when the interior collapse happened, adding that no firefighters were hurt.

The main part of the fire was brought under control in about an hour, according to the county. Other firefighters continued to work on the scene, battling additional smoke and hot spots for a few hours after the fire initially started.

Roughly 200 firefighters from 20 fire departments assisted the Syosset Fire Department at the scene, according to the county.

Nassau County fire officials said they have notified the Red Cross.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal Investigations Division and the Nassau County Police Arson/Bomb Squad Detectives remain on scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
