Officials say crews have located the leak that caused an oil spill in East Rockaway.

Crews say the leak was on the southwest corner of Atlantic Avenue and Access Road.

PSEG tells News 12 the flow of dielectric fluid has stopped. A PSEG cable leaked hundreds of gallons of the fluid into the Mill River since Monday.

According to PSEG, work to repair the underground cable might take “several weeks.”

The fluid is not harmful to human health.

However, News 12 has been told birds have come in contact with the liquid.

PSEG says anyone who sees a bird covered in the fluid should contact the Wildlife Center of Long Island or Sweetbriar Nature Center.
