The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a 3-alarm fire on Fullmar Lane in Norwalk on Tuesday, just before noon.

Neighbors say they saw heavy smoke, which they believed could have been coming from the deck– but it wasn’t.

When firefighters arrived on scene, heavy fire was visible on the first floor, venting from every window and rapidly spreading to the second floor and multiple attic spaces of the house.

Firefighters were able to save the majority of the home. The fire was extinguished and brought under control about an hour later.

Animal control was called after a deceased dog buried under sheetrock was found in the home.

The homeowners were not home during the fire and were notified by officials.

Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Shay tells News 12 that the home was “uninhabitable" due to the damage.

No injuries are being reported.

The American Red Cross is assisting the three occupants who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

During the fire, the City of Norwalk fire stations were covered by mutual aid from the Rowayton, New Canaan, Westport, and Stamford Fire Departments.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal Division.
