Police have arrested a Coram man accused of setting fire to a neighbor's home in Coram Thursday night.

Police officers responded to a report of a fire at 23 Glenmere Lane at 11:45 p.m. A man and a woman who lived in the home evacuated safely.

The Coram Fire Department and multiple additional fire departments responded to extinguish the fire.

Arson detectives have charged a neighbor, 43-year-old Altariq Nixon, with arson in the second degree.

Nixon is being held on $500,000 cash bail or $1 million bond.

His lawyer entered a denial on the arson charge.

Orders of protection were issued on behalf of the two people who were inside the house at the time of the fire.
