64-year-old man dies in Stamford house fire

Officials say a 64-year-old man has died after an early-morning house fire on Woodmere Road in Stamford.

In addition, three people and two dogs were rescued, according to the Stamford Fire Department.

The Stamford police incident commander on scene stated that the fire broke out around 4 a.m. in front of the home.

The three people escaped the flames, but the 64-year-old man died inside the home, according to the incident commander.

Crews arrived to find intense flames but were able to knock the fire down quickly.

The State Police Arson Team is investigating the incident.
