Crews battled a brush fire at the Hempstead Plains Preserve in Uniondale Monday afternoon.
The flames broke out just east of the Marriott Hotel. Firefighters say a couple of acres quickly went up in flames because of the dry conditions and the wind.
Firefighters called in a police helicopter to help coordinate efforts on the ground.
More than 50 firefighters from eight departments worked to battle the flames.
The fire has since been extinguished. The cause is unclear.
