A public testing site is open in Southampton after South Fork officials pushed for more accessible testing options for residents.
The new site is located at 330 Meeting House Lane in Southampton, near Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. Hudson River Health Care is working with Suffolk County to facilitate testing.
There has been concern about testing in the Hamptons as many Manhattan residents fled New York City to quarantine on the East End. The nearest public testing site is in Riverhead.
Suffolk County figures show that Southampton has the highest amount of COVID-19 cases on the East End.
Unlike other public testing locations for the coronavirus across Long Island, the one in Southampton will only be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To get a test, you must have an appointment. To make one, call 845-553-8050. Tests will only be given to people who are experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus. You can learn more about what those symptoms are by clicking here.
Tests are available to everyone, regardless of immigration status, and are free to those who are uninsured.

Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman says the new testing site is a crucial addition.
"Hopefully with this here and free for Southampton and East Hampton residents, we will see more people coming out and getting tested," he says.
