Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine announced Friday that Robert Waring will remain in the police commissioner's role.

Waring was named as Suffolk County acting police commissioner earlier this month. Romaine has now announced that his new position is permanent.

He will be joined by Kevin Catalina and Belinda Groneman as deputy police commissioners. Groneman is the first Latina to serve as a deputy police commissioner in the Suffolk County Police Department's history.

“The dedicated men and women of the Suffolk County Police Department are ready for new leadership, and this team ushers in a new era in Suffolk County law enforcement,” said Romaine. “I want to thank them for accepting these positions, which come with great responsibilities to every resident and member of the force.”
