Cost of powering Long Island homes reach all-time high

The average price is more than 10% higher than it was in January. With winter fast approaching, PSEG Long Island is hosting three financial assistance information events.

The cost of powering your home has gotten more expensive on Long Island.

The average price of electricity in August was more than 17.6 cents per kilowatt hour, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

The average price is more than 10% higher than it was in January. With winter fast approaching, PSEG Long Island is hosting three financial assistance information events.

The first is next Monday, Nov. 3 at the Stop & Shop in Shirley. Three days later on Nov. 6, there's an event outside UBS Arena. Lastly, on Nov. 13, you can stop by the Key Food in Far Rockaway.

All three events run from 1 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. to 5:30 p-m.
