Police say soccer fields in Northport were torn up by at least two vehicles overnight.
It happened at the Northport Cow Harbor United Soccer Club fields sometime between 9 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday.
The field manager discovered the damage early Saturday morning. All five of the club's soccer fields had huge, deep gashes and skidmarks across them.
Officials say the damage will likely cost $10,000 to repair.
Saturday was supposed to be opening day for the club's soccer games. Organizers say dozens of kids were disappointed to learn their games had been canceled.
The Northport Village Police Department said in a Facebook post that it will be reviewing security footage from the field and also from a nearby power plant.
Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
