Police say an Eastport man has been arrested in the hit-and-run crash that killed a young mother and seriously injured another man earlier this month.

Investigators say 48-year-old Peter Torrillo, of East Pond Lane, was driving the vehicle that struck and killed 27-year-old Erika Strebel on Montauk Highway back on Nov. 2.

Strebel, who had pulled over to the shoulder because of car trouble, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her friend, Edward Barton, was hospitalized with serious injuries from the crash.

Prosecutors say the Suffolk County vehicular crime's unit traced the suspect's Chevy Suburban to an auto body repair shop in Queens.

Torrillo is facing charges of leaving the scene of a fatal accident and leaving the scene of a serious injury incident. He is being held overnight at Fourth Precinct and will be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Strebel left behind a 5-year-old son.
