Construction along the Bruckner Expressway keeping Bronx residents up at night

The sounds of a drill being rammed into the Bruckner Expressway is disturbing the nightly sleep for many Bronx residents who live along the road.
"There's no break from it, so I do not get any sleep until like 5 [a.m.],” said resident Whitney Lawrence.
The construction is a part of the Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement Project. The project is expanding the expressway, building new parks, bike lanes and walkways and a parking lot for over 100 cars.
The Department of Transportation tells News 12 in a statement:
“We are committed to being a good neighbor and we continually monitor noise levels at our Hunts Point Access Improvement Project. Although measured noise levels have not exceeded established parameters, NYSDOT will work with our contractors to minimize disruptions caused by construction activities.”
Residents say they’re holding out hope for the loud overnight construction to come to an end. The DOT says that the project is expected to be completed by August 2025.
