A Connetquot High School teacher is suing the school district, superintendent and the board over its policies to remove Pride flags.
Christopher Dolce, a math teacher who is openly gay, claims in the complaint that the district’s policies to ban Pride flags and stickers are discriminatory.
The lawsuit seeks damages and a reversal of district policies.
The controversy began in 2022 when another math teacher was ordered to take a Pride flag down in her classroom. That prompted protests and a state investigation for alleged human rights abuses.
News 12 is waiting to hear back from the district for comment.
