Suffolk police and the Commack Fire Department held their 13th annual blood drive in honor of fallen officer Glen Ciano.
Ciano was killed by a drunk driver while responding to a call in Commack on Feb. 22, 2009.
Ciano’s widow, Susan, was grateful to see close to 300 people show up to the event at the Commack Fire Department on Jericho Turnpike.
“I feel so blessed to have so many people after 13 years want to come out for a blood drive in Glen's name,” she said.
Bay Shore resident Dorothy Thomas says the event was a fitting tribute to Ciano.
“Keeping his memory alive by giving back. He was a hero himself,” she said.
