Officials across Long Island are keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Hermine's path.
Coastal communities are preparing for the worst as the storm has sparked flooding concerns.
Forecasters say Hermine is expected to bring high waves to the South Shore beaches and flooding to the North Shore areas.
Suffolk County says it is not announcing any evacuations or warnings as of yet. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone says the county is ready and that officials will be carefully watching South Shore beaches and Fire Island.
"We encourage every family to have a preparedness plan as well as a storm kit with essentials like food, water and batteries," says Bellone.
Nassau County and PSEG Long Island are also mobilizing crews. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has already ordered the MTA, National Grid, state police and the Office of Emergency Management to be on alert.
