She mentioned that this is a women led council and one of the women that make up that majority is incumbent Inna Vernik of the 48th district in Brooklyn and standing by with her right now. We have our Valerie Ryan before we go to her. Let's take a look at where the numbers stand right now. About 72% of the precincts reporting and Councilwoman Vernik with a commanding lead sitting at 68% right now doing very well so far in that race and she is standing by right now with our very own Valerie Ryan, Valerie Kurt Amanda. Yes, we're here with Inna Niko. So they just told me that you're at a 68% lead right now. So how are you feeling? I'm really excited. This is not about me tonight. It's about the people of this district. I'm really excited to keep fighting for our values, fighting for our community as I look forward to everything that's and if you were re elected and you win tonight, what can the people of the 48th district expect from you. They could expect to have to continue having a voice in the city council. I will continue fighting for them. I will continue fighting for public safety against anti Semitism and standing up to the radical left. And what is the biggest challenge you foresee if you were to be re elected? I think, you know, um I don't see any challenges. I think that we have a lot of work to do. We have about 180,000 people to fight for and I will continue doing that. I have a great team that works very hard. We've covered over 6000 cases so far. We're number one in New York City Services. We will continue doing that and um we're just very excited. Into news. 12 New York for your weather too because we're gonna have a lot of updates coming up over the next couple of days as we are on storm watch, heading towards the weekend, rain is gonna be an issue. Let's check in with storm watch teams. Hoo sei right now to find out how much of an issue it's gonna be. Yeah, Kurt, you know, we're dealing with the rain and we're also dealing with the high wind. So here's the top stories through the weekend. So we're dealing with a nice warm up. That's something that you can enjoy. In the meantime, Friday and Saturday, Gusty storms are to follow on our Sunday and then falling temperatures by Monday. So let's get into the next couple of days high as tomorrow near 48 degrees, 55 on, on Saturday and then 61 on Sunday. But look where those temperatures crash mid to upper forties on our Monday and even cooler by the midweek. But again, we're talking about the rain. That's why we are on storm watch. Again. We're tracking some steady rainfall arriving Sunday afternoon and even taking us into Monday morning. So let's time it out on your future Cast Sunday, it is gonna start off dry. Then we see those temperatures climbing into the upper fifties. Low sixties, some light rain start then a random and, and then it starts to pick up in intensity by the evening hours. So this is around midnight. You're seeing temperatures still near 60 degrees and you're seeing the darker shades of green and yellow, good indicated for some soaking rain And even the high winds will start picking up in intensity through this time frame. But look how quickly those temperatures crash from the sixties to the mid forties by Monday morning. Even though that the rain is pushing out of here, we're still gonna be dealing with some standing water and some gusty winds. So your Monday morning commute will still be impacted Monday afternoon. It is drier temperatures in the mid to upper forties, even cooler by Monday evening. But again, back to those high winds, 40 to 50 MPH really going to be any concern as well as the rain. We're talking about 1 to 2.5 inches of rainfall. It's all good and I don't mean Rainbow.

City Council Member Inna Vernikov hangs on to seat in 48th District

Night's election. All the races in Brooklyn have been called one big council race was for the newly redrawn 47 district which covers parts of Bayridge, Fort Hamilton, Back Beach, Seagate and Coney Island. Now two incumbents competed but in the end, Democrat, Justin Brandon won over Republican Eric Kagan. According to the city's board of elections, Brandon held the lead with 58.2% of the vote. Now Kagan trailed with about 41.28% of the vote. Now in district 48 which covers Home Crest, Sheepshead Bay, Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach. Republican council member Inna Beniko also won re election. It was a race to watch though as Verv has been under fire after getting arrested for bringing a gun to a pro Palestine rally. Last month, we caught up with her last night and asked what Brooklynites in her district can expect over her next term. They could expect to have to continue having a voice in the city council. I will continue fighting for them. I will continue fighting for public safety against anti Semitism and standing up to the radical left. Taking a look at one more race in district 37 democratic incumbent Sandy Nurse, who's also chair of the committee on sanitation. Secured the win over Republican Isaiah Orlando Vega.
