A graduation ceremony was held Wednesday for a group of preschool children who have cancer.
The graduation for the 16 students was held at the Morgan Center at the Town of Oyster Bay Athletic Center in Hicksville.
The center was founded in 2003 and named after Morgan Zuch, who was 2 years old when she was diagnosed with cancer. Zuch is now cancer-free, and her parents wanted to start the school to give children with cancer as close to a normal childhood as possible.
The Morgan Center is a sterile environment for the kids who have suppressed immune systems from chemotherapy and can't attend a traditional preschool.
The students who graduated Wednesday will either move to kindergarten or stay for another year at the Morgan Center.
The center is free for the children and relies on donations.
The American Cancer Society says more than 10,000 children under the age of 15 were diagnosed with cancer in 2017 in the U.S.
