'Cheers of Stamford' – Mackenzie's to shutter doors after Thanksgiving eve

Mackenzie's – a popular pub dubbed the "'Cheers' of Stamford" – is in its final act and customers are recalling the special bond they have with the staff.
Everyone News 12 spoke with said the bar is not just a business, but a family.
Despite the attachments, the death of owner Andrew Whittingham and the hardships brought on by the pandemic proved too much to overcome.
Efforts to find a new proprietor were unsuccessful, so now customers and staff are taking the chance to enjoy the final hours together.
"It's bittersweet, it's happy to see everybody come together but it's sad knowing after tomorrow it's done," said Matt Gillespie Santa, general manager.
There will be a special celebration with live music Wednesday night starting at 8 p.m.
