Central Islip woman sentenced to 25 years to life for killing friend in attempt to gain ownership of home
A Central Islip woman
convicted of killing her friend to steal his home has been sentenced to 25
years to life in prison.
News 12 has learned
that sentencing will run consecutively
with two sentences of 2
1/3 to 7 years.
Donatila
O'Mahony was convicted of murder and forgery charges after prosecutors say she
shot and killed Lee Pedersen inside his Aquebogue home in 2020.
The
Suffolk DA says O'Mahony forged Pedersen's will in an attempt to claim
ownership of the home.
Family and friends
were in the courtroom today for the sentencing and gave emotional statements.
The judge said before
the sentencing that he could not imagine a more "evil plot."
