A home went up in flames early Saturday morning after reports of fireworks being thrown through the window.
It happened on Arbor Lane in Centereach just after 1 a.m.
Police say two children and one adult were sleeping inside the home, but News 12 is told everyone escaped and there were no injuries. Fire officials say they were also able to save the family cat from the flames.
Neighbors say they were up all night watching what happened.
"It's just unnerving, all of a sudden you have a burnt out house across the street," said John Hurst of Centereach. "Not a good thing but everyone got out safe, that's all that matters."
The Arson Squad is now working to determine if any fireworks were actually shot into the home.
