A cat who spent a week inside a sewer amid freezing temperatures was rescued Monday in Babylon.

Animal rights activist John Debacker says Chia escaped from her home and hid in the sewer as over a foot of snow fell on parts of Long Island.

Rescuers struggled as the meowing cat would run away whenever anyone approached.

Suffolk police lifted the drain and helped rescuers eventually reach Chia.
