A couple's quarrel unfolded on a Centereach street and ended with the woman fatally running over her boyfriend Saturday, according to witnesses.
Nick Montanino saw the drama outside his home. He initially thought the woman, identified as Jesenia Vega of Carle Place, was being beat up. But he realized Vega's boyfriend, 26-year-old Louis Wiederer of Westbury, may have been trying to stop his girlfriend from driving drunk after attending a nearby party.
"He was trying to stop her from driving, yelling 'you're going to get arrested,'" Montanino said. "With the door open, he was hanging off the car and she was speeding up the block."
Suffolk police say Wiederer fell off the vehicle and was eventually pinned on the ground. Blood stains and skid marks remain at the scene on Tree Road.
Vega, who witnesses described as hysterical after the incident, was treated for shock and arrested. She was arraigned for DWI and is being held without bail.
