Car crashes through Oceanside Trader Joe’s; 15 injured

A car crashed through a Trader Joe's on Long Beach Road in Oceanside this afternoon, injuring 15 people. An elderly woman lost control and crashed through the front of the store, according to police.

A car crashed through a Trader Joe's on Long Beach Road in Oceanside this afternoon, injuring 15 people.

An elderly woman lost control and crashed through the front of the store, according to police. Fire officials say the driver hasn't been able to explain what happened or what made her drive into the store.

News 12 Long Island has learned 15 people, mostly shoppers and cashiers at checkout, were hurt in the crash. A total of 12 were transported to the hospital. Among the injured is an elderly man who was seriously hurt when he was pinned between a wall and the car.



Most of the injuries reported were broken bones, head injuries and bumps and bruises.
