Long Islanders gathered in Uniondale for a candlelight vigil to remember the lives lost in Tuesday's school shooting in Texas.
Residents say they came to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Park to show solidarity with the victims and their family.
They also say they want stricter gun laws for the country.
"What we want to see done is make sure that any individual that wants to get access to a gun has to go through a thorough background check," one man said.
Organizers of the vigil say they are also dedicated to ending youth and gang gun violence on Long Island.
