School is just a distant memory for kids across Long Island, because this is the first week of camp!

News 12 is at Camp Alvernia in Centerport to see what's changed for children.

Camp Alvernia is an eight-week day camp serving hundreds of children and teens aged 3-14.

The program includes a wide range of activities from major sports to swimming and sailing.

“We spend 10 months out of the year preparing for just two, so we are excited,” says Camp Director Ben Esposito.
