Brooklyn locals with family in Puerto Rico are worried about the impact Hurricane Ernesto is having on their loved ones.

Jessica Gonzalez, who's visiting her family in Puerto Rico, says the first-hand experience of the damage was devastating. She says that the bridge to get from her family's home to the main town has been shut off and that they've been without power for nearly a day.

News 12 meteorologists say Ernesto was upgraded to a hurricane, but thankfully that only happened as it was moving away from Puerto Rico. Past hurricanes and tropical storms have caused massive flooding, mudslides and severe power outages across the island in the past.
