Brooklyn Public Library branches are getting some much-needed help to make sure their buildings stand strong.

A total of $13.2 million in funding from the state Assembly and Brooklyn delegation will be allocated to 18 branches for urgent infrastructure repairs.

Some of the major issues include leaky roofs along with broken heating and cooling systems.

Library staff say they're excited to begin the repairs soon.

"We really need to make sure that they are watertight, that they're warm in the winter and cool in the summer so that our patrons can enjoy their time here and do their best work," said Michele Bonan, vice president of Government and Community Relations for Brooklyn Public Library.

The project is expected to take about two to three years to complete.
