High school students across Brooklyn are blazing their own entrepreneurial trails and got to show off their businesses at an ownership expo in Crown Heights.

The event, put together by Ownership Is The Future, looks to highlight the hard work of these young adults.

“Ownership is the big word in it,” said Akeela Maxwell, partner of the organization. “We want our children to know they have ownership within our communities.

The young adults’ businesses were tasked to create these entities using their identity as a foundation. Each student focused on their passions, learning about the ins and outs of starting a business and once their venture took off, each business was given $1,000 to get it started.

“I definitely do see myself still working on this brand because it’s something I’m passionate about so I see it going very far and maybe it becomes a name brand one day,” said young entrepreneur Juliet Gunnings.
