A highly anticipated new-age supermarket is no longer coming to Farmingville.
Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico announced the abrupt change to the plan on social media Thursday.
"Although this may have been the intention last year, the once-proposed Amazon Fresh location in Farmingville is not going forward," he wrote.
Panico did not offer any other details about why the deal fell through but said he spoke with members of Amazon's economic development team last week.
The facility has been fully constructed since 2023 after the town approved the plans the previous year but it has sat vacant on North Ocean Avenue ever since.
"There is interest in the location, with some similar type uses, but nothing to confirm at the moment," Panico wrote.
Amazon Fresh has three other locations on the island including one in Suffolk County in East Setauket and two in Nassau County in Plainview and Oceanside.
News 12 has reached out to spokespeople for Amazon but has not heard back at this time.
