Bronx mother indicted for starving, isolating her twin sons

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced the indictment of a Bronx mother, accused of starving and isolating her 14-year-old twin sons.
Lissette Soto Domenech, 64, of Mosholu Avenue in Riverdale, faces a slew of charges for actions that left the boys weighing under 55 pounds, malnourished and developmentally stunted.
Beginning in Nov. 2016, Domenech “... engaged in conduct that created a grave risk of death to the boys and caused serious physical injury to them,” DA Clark says. This conduct includes allegedly halting the boys' doctors' visits and submitting false documents to the NYC DOE with claims of homeschooling the twins.
According to the indictment, multiple anonymous complaints prompted an Administration for Children's Services child protective specialist to visit the family's home on Oct. 15, 2025.
The ACS employee called 911 upon discovering the boys, who weighed 51 and 54 pounds and stood far below average height for their age. EMS took them to Montefiore Children's Hospital, where they underwent treatment for three months.
Clark says one boy is autistic and never received an evaluation or services for the condition.
Inside the home, authorities discovered food and toys for toddlers and a lack of appropriate food or belongings for teen boys.
"This defendant is accused of a shocking, horrifying form of child abuse, allegedly depriving her sons of proper food, social interaction, education, medical attention,” said Clark. “We will do everything we can to help these boys attain a normal life."
Donenech faces multiple counts of assault, reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person and offering a false instrument for filing. Her bail was set at $25,000 cash or $75,000 bond, and she is due back in court Feb. 4.
