Hurricane Melissa has devastated parts of Jamaica, leaving homes and businesses with no roofs and streets covered in mud and debris - and Jamaicans in the Bronx are stepping up to help.

The JahJah Foundation, led by Dr. Trevor Dixon, is collecting donations and supplies to send to Jamaica, including building materials and basic necessities.

Items can be dropped off at The Dumpling Shop in Baychester, where the goal is to fill two containers within the next three weeks.

One container will be filled with building supplies, and the second container will be filled with essential goods.

The JahJah Foundation, which operates in the Bronx, works to improve healthcare and provide medical support across Jamaica.

Now, it’s expanding its mission to deliver immediate relief to families who’ve lost everything.

It is gathering items such as sanitary pads, diapers, baby formula and other essentials to help residents recover from the ongoing storm’s impact.
