Surveillance cameras recorded the short-lived kidnapping of an infant inside a Westbury supermarket Friday, Nassau police said.

Police said the 6-week-old baby was in a shopping cart while her mom was looking at produce at the C-Town in Westbury. A woman in a black coat allegedly took the cart and started walking away. The mother immediately looked up and yelled at the kidnapper, prompting other customers to come forward, police said. The perpetrator then stopped and walked out of the store, they said.

Officials said the baby was not harmed.
