Peterson Street residents were shocked Saturday to find out that a man?s body was discovered in a backyard on their block.
The man?s body was partially dismembered, and police say the murder weapon was a machete.
Police say they received a 911 call around 9 p.m. Friday. When they arrived on the scene, they say they found the victim had suffered multiple wounds. The machete was found nearby.
According to police, a neighbor heard the victim fighting and screaming outside, but did nothing. Police believe the argument occurred two to two-and-a-half hours before the 911 call was made.
Detectives say the victim lived on Peterson Street for about a month, and that he was one of several residents living inside the home. He has not yet been identified.
Police are now searching for the killer. They ask anyone with any information to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
