Students in Brookville Tuesday learned important lessons in friendship and trust.
Sixth-graders from Locust Valley Middle School were at the Nassau BOCES Brookville Outdoor Education Center, taking part in activities to help them learn about trusting each other.
There were a number of activities for students to choose from. They learned dependence as they climbed a 6-foot high wall, and some students climbed ropes while others tried to balance on ropes.
All of the activities required the students to work together.
"You have to do the things at the same time," said student Owen Byron. "It's mostly communications, talking to each other, saying what we should do next."
Physical education teacher Laura Vera wanted the students to think outside the box.
"I've heard them say things like 'We're cooperating together through teamwork and compromising.' That was the goal," she said.
