Many Throgs Neck residents took their overdevelopment concerns to a public forum with Mayor Bloomberg Monday.
Many say new buildings are ruining the neighborhood. They also claim developers are building illegal two and three-family homes. City Councilman Jimmy Vacca says through self-certification, developers have found a way to build what they want and not follow the rules.
Bloomberg says he supports those opposed to overdevelopment. He adds change to a neighborhood should be gradual. The mayor?s office says it will look into the problems surrounding illegal buildings in the area. The office also plans on auditing some of the new developments.
