A 32-year-old man who fired into a Hampton's house party crowd and pushed drugs on Long Island has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after pleading guilty to racketeering and distributing fentanyl that resulted in a fatal overdose.

Prosecutors say that Joshua Crowell, who is a member of the Bloodhound Brims set of the Bloods street gang, helped operate a drug trafficking network that sold fentanyl, heroin and cocaine.

Officials say Crowell and two others went to a party hosted by rival gang members at a Southampton rental home in March 2021, where they opened fire with two handguns and an AK-47-style rifle.

Prosecutors said the group fired nearly 50 rounds at partygoers, striking and injuring three people.

No one was killed, but Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said the shooting "could easily have been a mass murder."

Crowell was also tied to at least three overdoses after people bought his fentanyl, including one person who died as a result.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina said Crowell showed a "selfish, blatant disregard for the safety of others" and "prioritized financial gain by peddling deadly drugs and prioritized gang status over the safety of dozens of individuals."
