A blood drive was held in Chappaqua Saturday in honor of the former fire department chief.
The event at the Bedford Road Firehouse was in honor of Charlie Bergstrom, a 37-year member and two-time former chief of the Chappaqua Fire Department.
He has been having some health issues which have required him to receive blood transfusions.
The blood drive was held to replace some of the blood Bergstrom had received.
"People aren't giving as frequently because of the holiday season," said Chappaqua Fire Department Chief Paul Eiden. "It's always important for people when they have an opportunity to give blood and it's a great way to get back to the community as well."
For more opportunities to give back and donate blood this holiday season, you can visit the New York Blood Center website.
