Nassau Executive Bruce Blakeman welcomed Ukraine Consulate General Oleksii Holubov to discuss the impact local aid from the county has had on the ground in Ukraine.

Earlier this year, Nassau led a first-in-the-nation gun drive to help Ukrainian citizens protect themselves from Russian forces.

Blakeman later presented an honorary citation to Holubov - signifying the county's friendship with Ukraine.

"Words are not enough, there needs to be action," Blakeman said.

Over 460 guns were shipped to Ukraine due to the efforts of Nassau residents.
