News 12 Long Island received calls into our newsroom overnight about a big boom heard on the North Shore.

The source of the sound has been determined to be fireworks in the Bronx.

Reports of an explosion heard for miles started coming in just after 11 p.m.

Officials say the source of the explosion happened near Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx, just across the Long Island Sound.

There is no word if the fireworks were intentionally set off.

So far no injuries have been reported.
